Mountain View, CA (AHN) – Google, through its charity arm, has awarded a $1 million-grant for the development of hybrid electric vehicles and is looking to spend another $10 million more in the development and commercial adoption of the technology. Google.org, the company’s philanthropic subsidiary, also announced that Google’s headquarters will begin using solar power technology in its headquarters in Mountain View. As few and far between it is, we will on occasion hear from the Google.org folks. But what is Google.org? Google.org acts as the non-profit side of Google. In other words, Google.org gives out a bunch of money in the name of Google Inc. Google sponsors a lot of events and programs, such as Summer of Code for the Open Source industry, but Google.org acts as a separate team for Google and gives the ability to organizations through their vast partnerships and funding opportunities.
