Google Thinks Facebook is…

Google Thinks Facebook is…

Last year, we posted about what “Twitter is…” according to Google’s suggestions. Today we cover what “Facebook is…” and apparently, people think that Facebook is dying, dead, or on the way out the door. Which is really weird to me, because Facebook in my mind, hasn’t died or gone down hill at all — if [...]

Google to Acquire Facebook?

After time having elapsed, we can see that the deal for Google to acquire Facebook is not going through. It’s quite possible that Google executives are still talking to Facebook executives about the idea, but I do not think it is a serious discussion — if it exists at all. One reason I think that [...]

Unsuccessful Marketing on Facebook

I have noticed recently that more and more folks are adding me on Facebook simply because I’m in the industry. I won’t lie, I’ve done it too. But normally I won’t add a message to the request, I just simply add them. It’s very rare that I would do that, but I’ve done it. This, [...]

Interactive Friends Facebook Application

I may start featuring a column here about Facebook applications that I find particularly interesting, but we’ll see.
This application review is going to focus on the recently announced Interactive Friends application.
With this application, it will let you view who your friends are and who your friends have in common with each other. There is a limit to 200 friends right now, but hopefully that will be removed later on once they get some stability issues resolved — which could happen if you have thousands of friends and it tries to load it up via the flash interface.

Microsoft Looks to Facebook after Yahoo!

Microsoft has been looking around for somewhere new to spend their money. After spending USD$6 billion with the acquisition of aQuantive, they are now looking at taking a stake in Facebook. The NY Post reports that Microsoft is looking to invest and take 5% ownership of Facebook. We know that Facebook doesn’t want to be acquired, but how will they feel about this part-ownership? Microsoft has become quite gutsy with all these quick and aggressive acquisitions and investments. First spreading the rumors of completely buying out Yahoo! for USD$55 billion, now going after Facebook — but only for a portion. So what is Microsoft to do next? Buy Google? Not likely. Microsoft is drowning and they realize that. Yahoo! is drowning in the same pool.

Facebook Seeks to Acquire, Not be Acquired

Loren Baker makes some great statements here about activity of Facebook lately. I can’t see where the rumor is coming from yet, but it looks to be promising.

So why would Facebook consider acquiring companies instead of just being acquired? Vision.
