Google offers a wide variety of services. Gmail, Search, online office collaboration, and a number of other services that are commonly used by millions of people around the world. Full StoryGoogle Extends 99.9% SLAs to Everyday Users
Google is proud to announce that they are extending their 99.9% SLAs (Service Level Agreements) to non-premiere users. I do have a small problem with this though. I love great SLAs, but when you offer something for free, there’s nothing you can get in return if their service indeed does go down. For example, if [...]
Full StoryGoogle’s Competition Beating them at their own Game
Google’s Gmail service has been a revolution to how web-based e-mail works. Not because of AJAX, but because how easy it is to use. Zoho, a competitor to Gmail, announced today that they are moving out of private beta and into the public eye. Here is a little excerpt from Zoho’s website about who exactly [...]

Google Encourages Docs and Spreadsheets Usage
When going to Google Docs & Spreadsheets today, I noticed a small pop-up … which is really out of the ordinary for Google. So I took a look at it to see what it exactly said. As stated above, Google is starting to really encourage users to start using their document viewer/editor and their spreadsheets viewer/editor instead of the default already installed on your machine. Google wants to ramp up its usage so people get used to it a lot more. I haven’t seen any other kinds of these encouragements to use the Google products before, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we started seeing these more often. Hopefully though, not in this pop-up form because pop-ups are always annoying.

Full StoryGoogle Ringtone Spam
Text-Link-Ads.com sends me an e-mail each time an advertiser wants to put a link onto one of my sites. So I got a normal e-mail from TLA saying that I have a new ad to approve. I look, and it’s a spam site hosted on Google’s own servers at Google Docs. Free ringtones eh? Well there’s a unique idea. Advertising your spam via Google Docs and then trying to promote it like crazy. I wonder how long it will take Google to figure it out and put some sort of spam-blocker in place to protect against this.
Full StoryGmail and Docs Become Friends
Gmail and Docs become friends recently. When receiving an XLS file as an attachment, it offers an easy way to open it with Google Docs. This is the start of what we will soon see as service-wide integration of all the new products. The JotSpot acquisition, the Writely acquisition, and I’m sure we will have much more to come from these new “office” products. Google is trying to create a completely integrated system for users to make it easy to use. They are doing just that and they are doing a great job of it.

Full StoryStart a Document via E-mail
So I was playing around with Docs just because I had some time and I hadn’t really looked at it closely yet. As I was poking around, I noticed a small Upload link up top. After looking at it, I found there’s a sweet feature: Email-In Your Documents and Files. Being curious with it to how it actually worked (beyond the obvious of what it said), I tested it out. I sent myself an email and sure enough, it showed up in my account about a 45 seconds later. It sent an email to my original address to let me know that I had posted a document online in my account; just an FYI from the Google team about it. This is a great feature because now I can setup a mail redirect to my unique email and easily add documents to my account.
Full StoryGoogle Docs
Google Docs was launched recently. But what exactly does this mean? This means Microsoft just obtained a new and serious competitor to Office. While Microsoft Office has dominated the playing field for quite some time now, Google has stepped in and will become a major player in the “office” industry. Right now, Google Docs is composed of spreadsheets and document writing. While the features aren’t
