Extending Ads by Google
This is not a huge change for the industry, but it is a change that will be seen on millions of websites around the world. As both the AdWords and AdSense blogs announced, more and more advertisers are choosing rich media ads instead of typical text ads.
The new change will result in [...]
AdWords Account Migration
Google is officially moving all AdWords users over to the new interface they’ve been testing. I really like the new interface, so it’s a good move, in my opinion.
Here is what Google has to say about the move.
***Important news regarding your account***
Hello,
In the coming weeks, we’ll upgrade your AdWords account [...]
Google Pushes More Money to Chrome
Google is pushing full force to get Chrome adopted by the world. In a recent blog post, Google talks about how they are now running Google Chrome ads through their television advertising network on AdWords.
So why is Google trying to push Chrome so far? It’s two-sided, in my opinion.
Google obviously wants part of [...]
Google Grants for Your Non-Profit
Are you a non-profit organization that wants to spend a few bucks on Google AdWords? Google has a program called Google Grants that lets non-profit organizations advertising on Google AdWords, for free.
There are a few requirements for it though, so pay close attention.
Google AdWords is an online, advertiser-managed program, meaning that a contact at [...]
Hanging out with Google Around Town
Google likes bring around everyone and meeting people face to face. You certainly will not see Larry Page or Sergey Brin hanging out at these conferences, but you will certainly see Google employees.
I was talking with one Googler here at SXSW who is a UX (user experience) designer out of Google New York, and [...]
Google Launches the Ad Auction
Google has officially launched the Ad Auction.
The video below is an amazing explanation of how it works. It’s almost 10 minutes long, but well worth watching if your’e an AdWords user.
A few key elements I want to point out are the primary points of the Quality Score.
First, the largest factor of the Quality Score, [...]
How to Sue Google and Win
Aaron Greenspan writes about his story of suing Google…and winning.
His story accounts for him being both an AdSense publisher and an AdWords customer through his company, Think Computer Corporation, where he is the CEO.

AdWords Testing New “Expandable” Ads
This sure looks a lot like pop-outs to me, rather than what they are terming them as “expandable ads.”
Here’s what they are describing it as.
Here is what they have to say about the new ad type,
Expandable ads on the Google content network are designed to automatically expand in the direction where the most space is [...]
The Website is Down
Well, sort of.
AdSense and AdWords have been having some issues today.
Here’s a video that explains it.
*WARNING* There is profane language in this video.
New Seasonal Ad Templates for Display Ad Builder
There are couple of new ad templates available for Google’s Display Ad Builder.
These new templates were inspired by Jason Barnes of Superb Internet Corporation. Barnes voiced his concerns and opinion, and Google responded in a willingness to work with Barnes on the new templates.
These templates will be available for the upcoming Valentine’s Day [...]
Goodbye Print Ads for AdWords
Earlier this morning, Spencer Spinnell posted the announcement that the Google Print Ads team is, well, essentially being shutdown. Google Print Ads is being shutdown because it’s just not a sustainable business model as Google had hoped.
Just as it is with every other Google product, there’s never a sureness whether or not a product [...]
Full StoryAdSense Now on Finance and Images
Google has gone ahead and taken the liberty to start advertising on two of their online properties; Google Finance and Google Images.
Here’s what Google is doing with these ads.
Having ads on various online properties is still relatively new for Google, aside from running ads on the google.com search engine. Yahoo!, however, has been [...]
Full StoryGoogle Shares Vision on Mobile Advertising
I am currently attending DPAC II right now, sitting in the “Simply Just Add and Go Mobile?” It’s been a great session so far, here are some notes I’ve taken away from it.
Google’s Vision for Mobile
Google is focusing their efforts on the “new” for mobile. G1, the new Android release, for instance, is [...]
Sponsored Links Gets More Image Visibility
Google’s Sponsored Links position within search results now has images included with its sponsored listings.
Here’s what it looks like.
First impressions I actually like it. Even as a Google user such as myself, I am 200% more likely to click on a sponsored link now.
In combination with yesterday’s updates, Google should see a decent influx [...]
AdWords API Updates
Google’s AdWords API is now up to Version 13. The latest update comes with a whole host of updates which people can be excited for.
Here is a short list of updates that I feel are worth highlighting.
New geotargeting options
Quality-based bid and quality score support
Mobile Image Ad support
Search volume data returned in KeywordToolService

Google’s Offline Marketing
When it comes to offline marketing, Google has not done a ton of it. They have focused on word of mouth marketing and online recognition.
While you may think that it would be the flip, that they would continue doing that, they are actually slowly but surely moving towards offline marketing.
Google has been spending a [...]
How to Get Around AdWords Trademark Protection
Here’s a tricky advertiser that uses another method for getting around the trademark protection policies in place by AdWords.
Ha, nice. Putting spaces between the letters to evade trademark protection. Looks like it slipped by one of the AdWords ad managers.
If I had my own company advertising products, I would certainly hope that I [...]
Google & NBC Partner for Cable Network Ad Serving
Google has announced that they are creating a formal partnership with NBC to begin serving ads in part of NBC’s cable network inventory. “Advertisers using Google TV Ads will be able to place their ads on CNBC, Sci-Fi Network, MSNBC, Oxygen, Sleuth and Chiller starting in early 2009.”
It’s been quite a while since we [...]
Full StoryGoogle is Already Marketing Google Chrome
Google is…wow..man they’re efficient at getting products out the door and marketed.
After doing a few searches, we can clearly see that Google wants to get the good word out about Google Chrome. But alas, even searching from a Mac, Google AdWords will still show up — so AdWords cannot yet decipher between operating systems [...]
Google Analytics Ramps up for SES San Jose
The Google Analytics team is just as excited for SES San Jose as we are here at Ginside.com!
And boy do we love it. The Search Engine Strategies conference is right up our alley. Google will be there in force, sponsoring the show, with a giant booth for AdWords and Google Analytics. Googlers will be headlining [...]
Google, Old School Style
Google launched a blog yesterday that will be dedicated to all of the traditional media that Google lets advertisers manage and advertise through.
The part I find odd is why Google is still pushing this traditional media so much still. With projections of online ad spending of being upwards of $50Bn by 2012, old fashion [...]

Google Webmaster Tools API
Late last week, Google launched the Google Webmaster Tools API.
With this new API available, it starts us down the road of being able to create incredible applications. I brought up this API seven (7) months ago when I wrote about APIs which Google should create. The Webmaster Central API was the first API [...]

Full StoryAdWords Third-Party Integration
Google has finally released the technology to integrate third-party ad networks into AdWords. This is huge. No, really, this is huge.
Google has now given more control to the networks. The amount of work that is required to get campaigns live and monitored has just been decreased a ton!
Here are some of the [...]
AdWords+Analytics Seminars You Should Attend
Vivian Leung, from the Inside AdWords crew, put out a memo recently about new dates being offered for AdWords and Analytics seminars.
I attended an AdWords seminar back in September, nearly two years ago.
I really took a few things away from the seminar. The first thing I took away was better knowledge about AdWords. [...]
AdWords Team Launches AdWords Editor Forum
The Google AdWords team has launched its own forum for the AdWords Editor tool.
This is going to be a great place for interaction because there are still many great features to be added to the editor tool.
Overall it’s a great application, but I am still seeing a ton of potential left in the application. [...]
Google to Launch Hosted Ad Manager
A few days ago, Google announced that they will be offering a hosted ad manager.
Something to note specifically is this line in the features: Optional AdSense Integration: Use AdSense to fill unsold inventory or compete on price against other ad networks.. Of course Google wouldn’t offer this free service without a hidden agenda such [...]
Google Hosts Online Advertising Meetup
Earlier this week on Monday, I attended an advertising meetup that was being hosted at Google NYC. A lot of people felt it was a sales pitch for Google products, but I had other thoughts. Since I author this site, I felt it was actually informative and there were some really interesting things [...]
Full StoryRumors of Google to Buy The New York Times
John Ellis brings up the rumor (or potential rumor) of Google acquiring The New York Times.
What’s in it for Google? Well, for one thing, it’s cheap. Sell off the New England properties and the real cost is $3 billion. That’s not much money to buy one of the premier brands of the information age. It [...]
Google Supports iPhone Unlocking
I have discussed Google and Apple’s mutual love for each other already, but this one comes as, well, only a little bit of a surprise. The surprise comes in the form of an AdWords advertisement I noticed in my Gmail.
Apple has already come outrightly and stated that they will fight the unlocking and discontinue any support for those people that do unlock their iPhones. But Google is more than happy to take advertiser’s money in lieu of Apple’s position?
Full StoryWonky AdWords Ads in Gmail
I’ve been getting some wonky ads here and there within Gmail. I know it’s a character set issue, but shouldn’t Google have this resolved? AdWords is the creme of Google’s crop…so you would think they would want it functioning 100% all the time. Odd to see these kinds of character set issues appearing.
Full StoryBring Out Your Dead…Bring Out Your Dead Links
Old school Link spamming building is dead. You can no longer simply put up completely irrelevant links and hope you get link love for them.
As illustrated in the comic above (which is thanks to Monty Python and the Holy Grail [one of my favorite movies]), we can see how traditional old school link building is dead.
The old style of link building was “Hey! You have a PageRank 8 site, that must mean it’s [uber] trusted by all the search engines! I’ll give you $100 if you put my link there. K? thx!” That is no longer the case. Search engines have been smarter and better.
But from what I can tell, a lot of people are still stuck in the 90s and think that irrelevant linking still works. Let’s take a look at what I’m talking about.
AdWords Editor 4.0 for Windows Released
The Google AdWords Editor for Windows has been a great tool for AdWords advertisers ever since it was created. The AdWords team has announced the release of version 4.0 of the software. New features: Mobile ads: View, add, and update your mobile ads on the new Mobile Ads tab. Campaign posting: Select and post only specific campaigns, or post all changes at once. Right-click menus: In the
Full StoryGoogle Advertising Invite for $1,000
Google is starting to make the long-awaited push for newspaper advertising now. The last time we saw activity of their newspaper advertising was back in November 2006. Appears they really want some activity in that industry for their advertising network. I just got this e-mail, Google AdWords Invitation from Google: Try newspaper ads and receive $1,000 in credit. Regarding AdWords Account ID: ###-###-##### Greetings, We’re excited to introduce
Full StoryGoogle Officially Acquires FeedBurner
As previously rumored around the mill, Google has officially announced that they are acquiring FeedBurner. Google has even posted a 45-minute phone call with FeedBurner’s CEO Dick Costolo.
So why would Google do this? As with any Google-acquisition, their goal is one-fold: expand AdWords possibilities.
Google has had a strong focus on AdWords and they have continued to build their business model around it.
Google AdWords Launches Pay-Per-Action (Beta)
Google AdWords up until now has been purely Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and Pay-Per-Thousand (CPM). The Google AdWords team has broke the news that AdWords will now allow for Cost-Per-Action (PPA). What does this mean for affiliate marketing? I used to work for Commission Junction and I feel they have by far the best platform right now in the affiliate marketing industry. Google’s tap on affiliate marketing through
Full StoryRadio Advertising Moves Forward
The Google AdWords team has been moving forward with their beta testing of Audio Ads inside Google AdWords. They are once again asking for new beta testers to continue testing the Audio Ads platform. A lot of the executives with dMarc advertising already left, so it’s going to be an interesting ride from here on out for Google’s radio advertising as they move forward with the semi-not-so-personal advertising style.
Full StoryCommunication. Collaboration. No hassles.
I just received an e-mail about seminars for Google Apps to learn more about the product. I think it’s a great idea that Google is doing seminars for Google Apps, but they failed at one thing. Location, location, location. Why are they focusing all their efforts in San Francisco? It’s great that they are doing these seminars, but they need to be more geographically diverse with
Full StoryAdSense Banners Encourage Clicking
The AdWords team just released some news about click-fraud protection utilities that will be in place, but at the same time I noticed this yesterday. So why are advertisers allowed to encourage clicking on their banners? In the AdSense Terms and Service agreement for publishers, it clearly states that publishers may not encourage clicking, but no where does it actually say that advertisers cannot encourage clicking. I’ve seen this ad quite a few times on the ValueClick ad network, but it’s normally animated and very annoying. I fail to understand why AdWords advertisers would want to encourage visitors to click on their banner in such a manner if they’re not directly interested in the product. I actually visited that URL too and it comes up as a 404 (Starware.com/Jokes). Very odd ad in my opinion.
Full StoryGoogle to Offer Click-fraud Protection
Beginning next month, Google plans to give advertisers the ability to prevent their pay-per-click ads from being shown to competitors suspected of repeatedly clicking on the ads to drive up their cost. The move, to be announced in Google’s AdWords blog on Thursday, is an effort to curb click fraud, which involves generating clicks solely for the purpose of increasing the cost of an advertiser’s pay-per-click ad. This is going to be a great feature for advertisers so they won’t feel like they are getting the short end of the stick anymore. Prior to this release (right now), there’s no way for advertisers to see where click fraud is coming from. Hopefully this will cool down the amount of class action lawsuits against Google for click-fraud.
Full StoryPrivately Labeled AdWords
A privately labeled AdWords platform to run as your own. An interesting thought that Philip brought up in his latest article about Google AdWords’ competition in Norway. The last option of private labeling Google Adwords is the most interesting one. This option has probably not even been considered, since it may not be possible. I think it would be interesting to explore. The advantage to Sesam is that
Full StoryHold up Those Keywords for Everyone to See
From within the Ad Group view, you can pause an individual keyword, ad, or site at any time. These items will remain paused until you choose to resume them again. This will also be the case if the overall campaign or Ad Group is paused at any time. Now you can start and stop specific keywords rather than a whole campaign. This is an awesome new feature for AdWords. I will definitely be taking advantage of this new feature as I start doing more and more advertising.
Full StoryCPC Site-Targeting Beta
Well it’s about time. The AdWords team has released an update that they are beta testing a new program for AdWords that will let you site-target using CPC. Right now, you can only site-target a specific site using CPM rates instead of CPC. This new program will be very effective for all AdWords users. I know I’ll start using this feature once it’s released out of the beta stages. I’m excited that this feature is finally being released.

When that same publisher earns $100 within 180 days of sign-up and is eligible for payment, you will be credited with an additional $250. If, in any 180-day period, you refer 25 publishers who each earn more than $100 within
Full StorySign-up for Your AdWords Seminar Pass Today
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I attended an AdWords Seminar in October 2006. It was a great success and I picked up some great tips. They also gave me $50 of spending cash towards my account. They also provided me a Google Mug and a memory key with all of the day’s notes on it. Here is the official link to see the most recent updates about AdWords Seminars and how to register for them. I attended the one in Los Angeles and I was quite pleased. I highly recommend anyone even remotely interested in signing up for the seminar. But oh yeah, the reason I was writing this. AdWords is kicking off 2007 with some great seminars for everyone. They posted some new dates and some great new resources. Check out more below.
Full StoryHow to Use the Content Network
AdWords is an amazing platform that lets advertisers have the world’s power at their very fingertips. But with that power comes a lot of confusion and people get lost in it. A couple of Google employees, Ariel Frank and Jen Stone, put together this presentation which helps advertisers better understand the Content Network which the AdWords platform plugs into. The presentation is 7 minutes long. So take those few minutes and watch it. I think it’s pretty useful.
Full StoryWhy Google is Advertising AdSense so Much
In the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that AdSense has been advertising itself quite a bit more than it normally had been. I noticed that AdSense was advertising its platform a lot more and AdWords has been advertising that they are hiring. So I wonder why Google is advertising so much for AdSense and AdWords right now…
Full StoryAdWords Website Optimizer
I was recently invited to take part in the AdWords Website Optimizer tool. This tool is still in beta, but I signed up to see more about it and test it out. Here are the first few steps of the new tool: These are the first few steps of the new tool. I have yet to setup mine and start testing it so I’ll report back once I’ve started a new campaign and started testing the new tool.
Full StoryAdWords and Firefox Not Mixing
As I was viewing my AdWords account, I decided to roll my mouse over one of the buttons which was otherwise unavailable before. As I did, it started loading the AJAX script and then began to display this weird screen. Click the image below to see what I’m talking about. This was using Firefox 1.5.0.8 on Windows XP Pro, but I’m still puzzled to why they wouldn’t have checked to see this problem before. Below is what it looks like in IE7 — which is what it should look like.
Full StoryGoogle Branded IE7
Google is making an effort to push IE7 out to users. As seen below in the screenshot, they are even spending the extra dollar to make sure people download it with the Google toolbar. By default, Google is already the search engine used for IE7 users. I have IE7 installed on my computer for testing purposes, but I have a backup copy of IE6 available too. Yahoo! however, is advertising almost just as much for the IE7 push. The AdWords team recently wrote an article about how they advertise just like any of us do, but I do still wonder how they get their ad in that little blue box rather than on the sidebar. Yahoo! has their own branded version of IE7 which uses their search by default — which is the only reason they are promoting it.
Full StoryAdWords Landing Pages Hosted by Google
Yesterday, AdWords released a new feature which will allow local businesses to have a landing page even if they don’t have a website. This is a huge enhancement and lets local businesses spend money on advertising. With the Google Hosted Business Pages, an advertiser can create a small template-based landing page with their contact information, a picture, and just basic information. Below is a sample preview of what it would look like: This is a great addition as it allows non-web savvy people to use AdWords and easily attract new customers. Thanks for the tip Philipp.
Full StorySome Success, Some Failure
Google has a huge list of products on the market right now which are utilized everyday by people. Some of these great products include AdSense, AdWords, Google Maps, Gmail, and Google Calendar — just to name a few of them. But not all of these have been a success.
Two huge success stories include the AdSense+AdWords platform for advertising and the second is Gmail. These products have honestly changed the way the world of the Internet actually functions. AdWords+AdWords brought a new kind of advertising to the table and let small-time publishers start earning a few bucks here and there. Gmail re-invented AJAX — which Microsoft created nearly 15 years ago. AJAX lets a user check for new e-mails without ever leaving the page. This AJAX technology blew up and became widespread across the Internet. The technology wasn’t new, but not many people knew about it until the release of Gmail.
SanFran Opts for WiFi
San Francisco, Google, and Earthlink have all joined forces to create what quite possibly could be the largest wireless network in all of history. Under the proposal, EarthLink — one of the nation’s largest Internet service providers — will build and maintain the wireless network. Google plans to buy bandwidth from EarthLink and then offer a free wireless service to residents. Google, doing what it does best, wants to offer it for free. That free, however, will be paid by ads. Each browser will have advertising embedded in it to cover the costs of providing free WiFi. Personally, I wouldn’t care at all if there were ads in my browser for free WiFi — as long it was consistant WiFi. This is a huge branch out for Google from their hometown WiFi network and it will expand the coverage for AdWords even more. Mercurynews.com
Full StoryGoogle Audio Ads
As I was looking through my account services again, I noticed a new one. Audio Ads. I went to it, but all I got was an “under construction” page. This will be the new wave of advertising for Google in the AdWords and AdSense platform. Google already introduced video ads and now it’s time for the audio ads.
Full StoryGoogle Domain Trademarking
Cristian wrote a good article about this so I’ll dig a bit more into it. Google is a very exclusive domain name. They want to protect their intellectual rights and therefore they are now banning AdSense publishers that have “google” in their top-level domain name or their second-level domain name. When I first started ginside.com, I was very careful not to put Google in the domain
Full StoryGoogle Experiments with Newspaper Ad Sales
Monday, Google (GOOG) begins testing a new program that lets Google’s customers buy ads in more than 50 top newspapers, including The New York Times(NYT), Philadelphia Inquirer, San Jose Mercury News and seven papers owned by Gannett (GCI), the publisher of USA TODAY. Google tried doing this once already and they’re at it again. Google is trying to get into the newspaper ad selling business to be integrated with
Full StoryAdSense + Analytics Feedback
So I attended the eComXpo last week and I talked to a couple Google reps about Analytics and AdSense. As a publisher and a user of Analytics, I think it would be great for Analytics and AdSense to be integrated with each other. What is one of the biggest reasons I love Google? They listen. Google listens to what their users want and they deliver. Google is very user-focused which means users want to come back and use their products. I’ve put in my 2 cents time and time again for Gmail features and sure enough, they get implemented. Of course I know I’m not the only one with ideas and by no means are they implementing these features based on what I say, but it counts as a vote in their books and those votes add up. Read here for the topic of discussion about Analytics and AdSense integration. AdSense Blog
Full StoryAdWords Seminars Are Back!
AdWords has released a lot of new dates for AdWords seminars. I attended one last month and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Stasia (the speaker for the seminar) was very helpful. I recently e-mailed her about a week ago with some questions I had and she had no problem at all with replying back with what help she had to offer. The speakers for these seminars are astouding and are definitely worth every cent you invest into it. I also got this sweet memory key that had the Google logo on it (it faded away really fast), but I still use it almost daily. I had a memory key, but it didn’t work quite right with my keychain; this one does. I also got a sweet blue Google mug which I also use almost daily. Among other various things, those are the notable gifts provided for the seminar atendees.
Full StoryOnline Advertising Turns to Google
As the buzz goes around, eMarketer has all the latest. Google’s US ad revenue growth rate in 2006 will soar almost 65% over last year’s. Yahoo! still shows a respectable 17.5% growth rate, an increase that would satisfy most companies. But not one competing against Google. Just a year ago, Google and Yahoo! both posted US ad revenues of more than $2.4 billion. For the full year 2006, though,
Full StoryAdWords / AdSense Down for Maintenance
The AdWords account interface is temporarily unavailable due to system maintenance. AdWords is expected to be down from approximately 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM PDT [?] on October 14, 2006. Please note that your campaigns will be running normally during this short period of downtime, which only affects your account management pages. We apologise for any inconvenience. The Google AdSense website is temporarily unavailable. Please try back later. We apologize for any inconvenience. Grrr! I want to setup some new campaigns for my sites in AdWords…..man….oh well, guess I’ll have to wait.
Full StoryApple Tries Click-to-Call
We already know that Google did not stop the use of Click-to-Call, so on that note, here’s a little story about it. Apple has started to use the Click-to-Call platform to test it out and see how effective it is for generating more sales.
Full StoryThe “Completely Free” Ringtones that Aren’t
Ringtone ads often claim to be “free,” “totally free,” “all free,” “100% complimentary,” and available with “no credit card” and “no obligation” required. These claims typically appear in pay-per-click ad bodies, but they also often appear in ad titles and even in ad domain names, of course along with landing pages. Ben wrote a great article on PPC scams and how Google shouldn’t really be letting it happen. I
Full StoryAdWords Seminar Follow-up
A few weeks ago I attended an AdWords Seminar and it was very informative for me. I’m hoping to be using a lot of these new techniques in my project marketing projects. Yeah, this one was overdue too, but here it is
Full StoryAdWords Seminars Expand
Vivian posts about how the AdWords Seminars will be expanded to other cities. If you’ve been reading, you will know that I attended a recent seminar here in Los Angeles. I have been lazy and have forgotten to finally post the update for this seminar, but I do have to say it taught me a lot about AdWords. Professional, advanced, or a “newbie”, this seminar is for
Full StoryGoogle’s Inside Scoop on Clicking
So, here’s my question…Has anybody heard of Google artificially inflating hits by having someone in their office click on their AdWords client links to improve the click through (and make themselves money)? The AdWords team does in fact click on AdWords ads, for a variety of reasons, but primarily during the ad review process in which we check that the Destination URL is functional, that the back button works, etc.
Full StoryGoogle Starts The Outsourcing
As some previous reports have shown, Google has launched a Webmaster Contest for copywriting. If you have a clear, concise style and can use words to inform and persuade consumers, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for exceptional individuals to join the Google team in India, and we’re organising a contest – the Google Wordmasters Challenge – to find and reward India’s best writers. The
Full StoryAdWords Seminar – Los Angeles
There are a couple AdWords events coming up, one specifically in Los Angeles near me. I will be attending it next week on Friday, September 22nd 2006. Q: What are AdWords Seminars? AdWords Seminars are in-person training sessions designed to help you better manage your AdWords account and learn how to make the most out of your search advertising investment. These seminars can also help new advertisers learn how to use their accounts. It will be a good seminar for me so I can brush up on AdWords and start actively using it promote products and become more effective within the PPC industry. Hopefully I’ll see some of you out there at the seminar on Friday. I’ll be attending the afternoon session only.
Full StoryAnalyzing Your ROI
I love how Google Analytics lets you easily determine your ROI when spending on AdWords. There are many great things I love about Google Analytics, but there is one major downside to it: failure to integrate AdSense. I really wish AdSense could integrate into Analytics so you could see which pages were performing the best, which ones needed more work, etc etc. To see which ones were getting the most clicks and impressions, etc. I really hope that Google begins to integrate the two sooner than later, it would make our lives so much better.
Full StoryAdWords API Rolls Out Some New Ts & Cs
The AdWords API team has rolled out some new Terms and Conditions which users must accept before November 27th 2006 in order to continue using the API. While the “changelog” of the T&Cs are not available yet, this is the basic highlight of what they had to say… Account managers (MCC users) can automatically accept these new Google Advertising Program Terms and Conditions for all affected accounts under their My Client Center by logging into the MCC, navigating to an affected child account, and accepting the Google Advertising Program Terms & Conditions. This action will then instantaneously accept the new Google Advertising Program Terms and Conditions for all other accounts under that MCC. If you maintain a nested/hierarchical MCC structure, please be sure that you login to your top-most MCC when you accept the changes. This will ensure that all of your sub-accounts will automatically accept the Google Advertising Program Terms and Conditions.
Full StoryMultiple Google Accounts
A few weeks ago I logged into my AdSense account and it asked me to change my login, so I did. I thought it was a little weird at first because I liked having all my Google Services linked to one account. Since that time though, I had to change my login for AdSense so it uses another Google Account. I now have 3 different logins,
Full StoryThe AdWords API Sandbox Is Here!
The AdWords platform is happy to announce that they have the API Sandbox ready for developers to test out and use for whatever they need to. You can find the new Sandbox page here. They will be listening and watching closely to get feedback from everyone and will change it based on what everything wants. I’m personally not a user of sandboxes *yet*, but I will once I delve more heavily into AdWords as I’m only a light user of it right now.
Full StoryGoogle AdWords Users Encouraged to Checkout
Just got this in the mail (well, email, not physical mail…do they even do that anymore?) But anyway, they’re now doing a little enticing for advertising and processing to go side-by-side in order to help encourage advertisers to start using the Checkout system. Dear AdWords Advertiser, We’d like you to meet a new service. It’s Google Checkout™, a checkout process that you integrate with your website, enabling our customers
Full StoryMade-for-AdSense Sites Get the Slip
Google is in the process of trying to clean-up and make the AdWords and AdSense network a little bit better. The process of doing this is making the ‘landing page’ quality algorithm just a little bit stronger so that AdWords accounts can’t be used for made-for-adsense (MFA) sites anymore. In short, they are making the network quality better so they don’t have fake advertisers just trying to
