Microsoft Bought Massive Inc., Now What?
Microsoft acquired Massive Inc. coming on two years ago. What have they done with it? Not much as far as I can see.
As I’ve become more and more interested with in-game advertising, I’ve been doing more and more research lately. Having found a few different in-game advertising companies, none have actually picked up the phone or contacted me back.
Massive, a two-year-old start-up with 80 employees, is one of several companies pioneering the business of placing ads in videogames. Massive’s clients include Coca-Cola Co., Honda Motor Co. and other advertisers that are gradually increasing their spending on ads in videogames. Microsoft plans to announce next week an agreement to buy the New York company, said people familiar with the situation. People familiar with the matter estimated the deal to be valued at $200 million to $400 million.

As normal procedure happens in the United States of America, the government needs to take speculation at the acquisition to ensure there aren’t any antitrust laws being broken. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has confirmed that the acquisition of Postini is legal and binding so there is no need for any action to be taken on the government’s behalf. Google Buys DoubleClick for USD$3.1 Billion
As it was rumored before on the first of this month, while some may have considered it an april fool’s joke, it’s quite serious now. Google has confirmed the rumor regarding the acquisition of DoubleClick and announced that it will be acquiring DoubleClick for USD$3.1 billion. Google does indeed seem to be spending quite a bit of it’s money. Although, I highly suspect that the purchase involved many of the stocks which co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin sold off last year. Google will now be moving into the realm of sales tracking and a more immediate Pay-Per-Action industry.
