Having to deal with the fade-in bar is already a continuing daily annoyance.

I got a taste of the new homepage the other day, which I was able to get rid of by clearing my cookies.

If this blindingly bright, huge-text, mandatory left-bar bullshit comes back, I'm outa here for good Google.

Seriously, what the f**k are you people thinking?

At least give us the option of turing back to the old homepage, I'm sure it's well within your technical ability.

-Patrick

P.S.
I want a "disable fade-in" option, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE. I use maps, news, and videos often enough to be very annoyed when I have to go through the whole process of:

1) Hey, I want a news page
2) Wait... it's invisible
3) Right, I have to move the mouse
4)
5) Wait...
6) Wait..
7) Ok there it is
8) Click

WHAT THE F**K IS THAT FOR!? :-/

Personally - I think this trip to candyland is a bit extreme. Google has been known for simple, yet functional search. Adding this much bright color is harsh on the eyes and doesn't provide enough compelling contrast as is needed. At least Bing nailed the colors for their site - Google, what gives? I'm fairly certain that I'm not going to be the only one to start jumping ship if you're going to start using bright colors on a white background. Secondly, your font sizes....c'mon - take a serious look at it. You're diluting the significance of search. Period. Making the typeset the same size as the title's for SERP's and disabling the ability to "hide" that menu is a sad move. So long....user friendliness. On a last note, Bing's sidebar is actually useful - and presents significantly more accurate information that can be used - not a horrible duplication of the top menu that Google is known for.

Remember...these are my views - not yours...but if your's match - let me know!

They seemed to have field tested it today. A couple of hours ago, it was looking like this, with the column to the left, like Bing. Now it's back to how it was.

At first I couldn't tell what was different, just that something was amiss. I tried to find in the settings something affecting the layout but there was nothing. Then I realized what it was.

Another difference is that it was listing many pages under the same domain, instead of one hit, a couple more after it indented to show it is under that, and a link to "more from xpto.com".

I guess I wouldn't mind the change if they didn't incorporate so much color. I think I'd prefer just a text link.

It will take some getting used to!
