How Fast is Your Site? It Will Soon Matter.

During Pubcon Vegas, Matt Cutts hinted at a potential new algorhiym factor for 2010. Site speed.

For sites that already do this, such as this one, there’s nothing to worry about. But for those sites that taken 30 seconds+ to load, you really need to begin considering caching and other like functionality to speed up your site.

Here is the live blogging transcript of what SERoundTable had to say about it:

Your actual Pagerank number will not change just because your site is faster. I feel it will mean that it’s helpful with the SERPs, not directly with your Pagerank number.

Ive seen this being discussed all over the forums, one being mine. Its an interesting point that people are only now worrying about this since Matt has mentioned it , Surely there are other people out there that too this as a pinch of salt and said ” we done this months/years ago ” .

Google has always said that websites need to be for humans not search engines ,i know they contradict them selves a number of times but surely this would say to most of you that a slow loading site isnt good for humans ?

Its a good move all around i think.
