Google Webmaster Tools Adds Parameter Handling

Earlier today, Vanessa Fox wrote an article about how Google has given webmasters the option to adjust parameter handling.

Here’s what it looks like.

Webmaster Tools: Parameter Handling

This is great for some sites that still have SESSID and such in their URLs, that want them stripped out.

You can get here by going to: Site Configuration » Settings, then look for Parameter Handling at the bottom.

Additionally, on top of doing this, it’s also a really good idea to set canonical meta tags. Watch for an article coming out tomorrow morning about how to use canonical meta tags.

Great! I agree, this could be very valuable for ignoring session ID’s to ensure that quality results are always displayed. We know we hate it when Google runs rampant with a session ID

Great, Google has added a valuable feature. Now, why did they forget to tell us how to use it?
