All Your O Belong to Us

Yesterday was a weird day for consumers of Google. Typically, when there is a custom Google logo, it’s for a birthday or a special event. But this time, it’s left everyone confused and weary of why Google would do such a thing.

When clicking into the page that Google led users to, the first hit was unexplained-mysteries.com. This site was receiving so much traffic that they actually made a post specifically about Google and were confused just as much as the rest of us as to why they were posting such a weird logo on their homepage. When I was browsing the site, unexplained-mysteries.com, they were receiving at least 2,000 simultaneous users. It’s a good thing their hardware was able to keep up.
So where does the “All Your O Belong to Us” come in? Google’s tweet.
Two days ago, September 4th, at 9:02pm, Google tweeted this:

I can safely file this one under the “weird things that happen at Google” folder. We, the general public, are still left dumbfounded as to why Google posted it in the first place.
What’s your take on why the logo was shown?
UPDATE: According to the Telegraph, the logo was in honor of the 1980s video game, Zero Wing.

I think that it’s hilarious that Google does things like this.

Weird, they need a little notes or memo section for the confused people out there.
