Blogger Hits Some Hard Times, then Recovers

This past week, Blogger has had some hard times. Rick Klau, a friend of mine and the primary Blogger Product Manager — who used to be with Feedburner, writes a lengthy blog post about the issues and what Google has done to recover from it.

One very interesting thing I noticed about this blog post was that Rick was getting feedback from Twitter about Blogger, and actually using the feedback — not just “hearing” them, but actually listening. Note, there’s a huge difference between hearing and listening.

Rick talks about the advantages of using custom domains and FTP while utilizing Blogger as a blog hosting solution. As much as I care about Rick as a friend and respect his job, I still have to admit that I think WordPress is a better solution. This post isn’t about which application is better, so I’ll leave that for another day.

His article really is a good read, even if you’re not using Blogger. It gives some great insight as to how Blogger functions, both inside and out.
