Have You Searched Yourself?

Google is offering a new feature for its search platform. The feature to have your profile highlighted is now part of Google search.

Head to http://www.google.com/profiles to edit your profile and get it ranked for your name.
I think there’s a huge opportunity for SEO to get high rankings and drive traffic to your profile, then in turn traffic to your site. But the question will be, “will people actually click on these profiles?” I think that’s going to be the bottom line question for it.
As comparison, I still like Yahoo!’s Search Monkey integration with LinkedIn better than this profile search.

I’m not sure it’s good. What about if my website is like namesurname.com? Will it the first result be my website or my google profile?

google is not gauranteeing that your profile will be the first hit. My profile is the 10th result for my full name search, “jonathan dingman”
This website, http://www.ginside.com, still ranks #1 for my full time, then jonathan.vc, then jonathandingman.com, then my profile.
I’m not quite sure how Google is actually going to rank importance of a profile to measure how high it should be in the rankings, but hopefully that will come to light soon.
