Google Health Pilot Program

It has been close to a year since Google Health was announced. It’s being resurfaced.
“Google Health is working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on a pilot program in Arizona and Utah that lets Medicare beneficiaries import their Medicare claims data into Google Health.”

As part of the stimulus package that President Obama announced, $19 billion will be pushed into the future of Health IT in the US.
Are we, as a nation, ready to take this huge step? Entering our personal, private, and secretive medical records into the mastermind of Google?
Google’s Missy Krasner, a Product Marketing Manager for Google, certainly is [ready].
“If I had this type of electronic access to my grandparents’ medical records during my family’s medical crisis, it would have been a huge help to me. I applaud CMS for taking this big step towards empowering consumers with access to their own health records.”
Me? I’ll be waiting a few years, decades, millenniums if I can. Google has enough information about my life, I’m not ready to give up one of the few things I have left that is hidden from Google.
