Google Calendar Goes Offline
Posted at 4:50pm EST on 02/05/2009
Just as I predicted last week, Google Calendar now can offer offline access. Gmail offered offline and Calendar had follow suit.
But note, offline access is only being offered to Google Apps users right now. So a typical user, such as myself using good ole’ Google Calendar non-Google Apps, will not be able to see it.
Of course though, these new features are still in beta as they continue to work on them and get the kinks out.
The new offline access is provided through Google Gears which has been an effective tool for not just Google, lately.
To enable offline in Calendar:
- Sign in to Calendar.
- In the upper right-hand corner of your account, next to your username, there will be a new ‘Offline Beta’ link. Click this link to start the offline synchronization process.
