Gmail Offline

The latest from Gmail Labs is being able to access Gmail while you’re offline. This has been a huge concern for me for quite some time, which is why I’ve used an e-mail client as both a back-up and a method to access my Gmail while it was unavailable.

Gmail Labs has come out with some awesome ideas. These ideas are ones that aren’t fully ready for production mode, but have probably been requested a number of times.
Once you’ve activated Gmail Offline under Gmail Labs, you will then see a little “Offline 1.0” in the corner next to the Gmail Labs green button.
We are seeing more and more offline access being provided by Google. Early last year, Spreadsheets and Presentations went offline as did Google Reader the year before.
So what are some other future products we can expect to see having offline capabilities?
We can probably expect Google Calendar and Google Translate to offer some offline functionality in the near future. Google Calendar would be slightly more difficult than Google Translate, but definitely both have potential.
