Copyright Violations Go Too Far

Here is a great example of when copyright violations go too far.

Warner Music Group, the label for Death Cab for Cutie, asked YouTube to take down some videos because they were violating some copyrights.

Here is the result.

Death Cab for Cutie Copyright Violation

It was most likely accidental by someone on the band’s staff for the website, placing an unauthorized copy of the video, but still, it is pretty funny that something like this could happen in the first place.

That’s why we, from HI-BRAZIL, are doing Art via Creative Commons…Monetize it it’s just a consequence, not the goal. In just one year, we released one album, one single with remixes, seven videos and now we are sharing with people an epic book, “The Song of the Spheres”, originally written in Portuguese, with a very, very nice soundtrack created by us. Everything under a CC license. As result, we have more than 15.000 downloads of our songs, plus 10.000 views on our youtube channel. So, for me, I really don’t care if the industry are scalping the consumers. I made my own music and, for me, is a pleasure to know that other people around the globe are listening to it!!!

Congrats for the blog! I read it everyday!!!
