Google Toolbar Marketing in Gmail

Gmail has helped revolutionize what e-mail is and how it operates. Through Gmail, Google has changed the way people experience and interact with e-mail, and for that, I am thankful.
But one thing that still bugs me is the way their product marketing managers do not communicate.
The Google Toolbar is a great toolbar, one of the few I actually have installed. I would love to install it on Google Chrome, but alas, the Google Toolbar is not yet available for Chrome.
Question: Google, why do you keep pushing me to use the Google Toolbar for a browser that is incompatible?

So I’m using Google Chrome pretty much full time for browsing to https://mail.google.com/mail/ because I actually like the web interface more than IMAP access. I’ve heard from other people that they prefer IMAP access, but I prefer the web interface.
Every so often I’ll look in the footer to see what’s going with my account. Last access from which IP address, how much storage I’m using, or what random advertisement Google has running in the footer.
I’ve been noticing more and more that it’s really annoying that Google doesn’t wise up and just remove the toolbar ad from running in Google Chrome. Gmail obviously knows how to detect which browser you’re in as it does for mobile and whether or not you’re running Javascript, so why not just wise up and detect the same for which ads you’re running too.
When you click the “Download the Google Toolbar,” it leads you to a page like this.

After which, you can download the Google Toolbar for Firefox, not Chrome.
I wish Google were just a bit smarter with how they market their products. At least have the smarts enough to cross-market compatible products.
