Last week Patrick Townsend Security Solutions announced that they would be providing new security features for the Android OS.

January 14, 2009: Olympia, WA – Patrick Townsend Security Solutions (PTSS) announced today that their new Alliance Key Manager appliance will support key retrieval from the Google Android platform. In addition to deploying Enterprise key management applications on System i, System z, Windows, UNIX, and Linux, the company feels that business users will increasingly use the Android platform for applications requiring advanced data security.

Townsend CEO, Patrick Townsend commented, “Business customers are very concerned about data loss from cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices. As these devices become smarter and store increased amounts of data, the potential for loss is exploding. In the near future, there will be very little difference between a PC, mobile device, and a laptop. All of these platforms need strong security, and our new offering will help OEM and ISV partners deploy strong encryption with total key management. The availability of increased security should inspire more confidence in Android and will in turn encourage the development of more business applications on the platform.”

Google has been starting to push more and more towards enterprise products, rather than focusing on the consumer base which they built their company on. It doesn’t feel like they are neglecting the consumer base, but throughout the past couple of weeks, we can clearly see that Google is making a very strong enterprise push.
