FeedBurner 502 Server Errors
Posted by jonathan at 11:21pm EST on 11/25/2008
I just tried to load up my feed and it served up a 502 server error.

Anyone else seeing similar errors?
Update – 10:23pm EST: Looks like it’s going back and forth between two errors. The one above and the one now below.

Update – 10:50pm EST: After doing the digging, trying to validate the feed, and see what’s going on, it seems that the feed is actually fine. But what is not fine, is FeedBurner. Iframes seem to be the crutch here.
When I validated my feed, it validated fine, but with some cautionary items. Of note, the iframes I had in my posts were showing as errors. From what it looks like, FeedBurner disliked the iframes so much that it decided to start throwing errors for my feed.
I disabled the FeedBurner redirect temporarily until I can get it fixed.
Will update again soon with more details.
Update – 11:36pm EST: So it turns out that FeedBurner likes to have a hissy fit every time your feed has an iframe in it. Since that is the case, make sure you never have an iframe in your feed.
To do this, I am now using the Better Feed plug by Oz to ensure that when I put a <!–more–> tag, so that it doesn’t feed anything after that tag, into the RSS feed (such as an iframe you may not want there.)
