I am currently attending DPAC II right now, sitting in the “Simply Just Add and Go Mobile?” It’s been a great session so far, here are some notes I’ve taken away from it.

Google’s Vision for Mobile

Google is focusing their efforts on the “new” for mobile. G1, the new Android release, for instance, is part of their efforts on “new” technology for mobile.

But their vision for mobile goes beyond just delivery of content, it also focuses on mobile ad delivery.

Here is some of the content shown in the presenation.

Supporting current devices requires new technology

  1. Create mobile content
  2. Use a mobile content management system / page builder
  3. Create a monetization platform
    • Does your ad server manage your inventory properly?
  4. Promote your mobile property

Newer devices open opportunities

  1. Build an HTML page or not!
  2. Use your existing tools
  3. Create new value to advertisers
    • What is the new value for advertisers?
    • Newer sites have cookies, so ad sequencing is actually possible
  4. Promote your mobile property

What I take away from these couple of presentation slides is that Google definitely has a strong vision for mobile in the near future. Here’s a short quote that helps further explain their future.

“I hope to one day put myself out of business.”

Robert said that in the context of waiting and wanting to see the day where mobile is an everyday part of everything we do. Right now, mobile is still something “extra” for people to add to a site and offer as added value. But he waits for the day that search and mobile search are on the same level.

Google sees a huge future in mobile content and advertising and will do anything they need to in order to pursue this avenue.
