If it wasn’t obvious already to you that Google wants to be part of the mobile industry, this should clear any doubt you have.

Google recently registered a patent regarding Location-Based Responses to Telephone Requests.

Abstract

A method for receiving processed information at a remote device is described. The method includes transmitting from the remote device a verbal request to a first information provider and receiving a digital message from the first information provider in response to the transmitted verbal request. The digital message includes a symbolic representation indicator associated with a symbolic representation of the verbal request and data used to control an application. The method also includes transmitting, using the application, the symbolic representation indicator to a second information provider for generating results to be displayed on the remote device.

Google is serious about the mobile industry and tailoring their services to it.

One year ago, Google launched their free 411 service to compete with Microsoft’s 411 service.

The 411 service was just one of the first entry points we can see that Google is taking to enter into the mobile industry. We saw Google’s AdSense division dive head first into mobile advertising through AdSense. Shortly after that announcement, we saw Google acquire Zingku, a mobile social networking platform.

So obviously, Google sees there is a huge future for mobile and mobile advertising…and they want a piece of it.
