Throughout the past twelve months, we have seen quite a few executives and non-executives leave the company.
The trend started when George Reyes announced that he would be retiring as the CFO of Google. At that time, August 2007, Google stock was priced at $506.40 and it presently sits at ~$530.00.
Just three months later, mid-November 2007, the creator of AdSense parted ways with the company.
All was quiet on the “leaving” front for a few more months. But next up, executive Sheryl Sandberg, Vice President for Global Online Sales and Operations, leaves Google to join Facebook as their new COO.
Just a month later, Google loses a developer. Obviously, they have hundreds of developers, if not thousands of developers, so this isn’t a huge blow to the company, but still worth noting.
But most recently, Google lost Elliott Schrage to again, Facebook. Elliott was in the Google Executive Management Group with the official title of Vice President, Global Communications & Public Affairs.
Seems like Google has been losing a lot of key employees to other companies recently. Has the “coolness” effect of working at Google faded away? Has the hype of all the fun and games trickled away into the abyss?
I leave that for you to decide.
