Is Google listening?

Sometimes it’s extremely hard for a big company to hear listen to the everyday users, more commonly known as the little people or better yet, you and me.

But alas, Google has a team the really listens well. The GMail Teams listens, then it responds.

Among the other hundreds, if not thousands, of support pages available on Google, there is one in particular about Suggesting New Features for GMail.

Through this form, they have received thousands among thousands of feature requests and suggestions. They have taken those requests and suggestions and acted on them to help create the GMail we have today. Here are some of the suggestions the team has implemented.

  • Import addresses into my Contacts list
  • Search my Contacts list
  • Save message drafts
  • Automatic email forwarding
  • See the number of new spam messages from my inbox
  • Free automatic forwarding
  • Free POP access
  • New messages notifier
  • Signature options
  • Support for more browsers
  • Extra paid storage
  • IMAP access
  • Multi-person chat

Of course, there will always be room for improvement and we will always have more features to suggest and hope for, but this is a huge step for Google as they listen to the community and respond to it.
