Google Analytics Outage

After logging into Google Analytics today, I saw this notice.

This is not the first outage we have seen for Google Analytics though. Previously there was at least one more last year in mid-July 2007.

Here is an example of the e-commerce data loss which was mentioned in the system message above.

So if you’re wondering why there you were missing data or things looked very skewed, this is the explanation for it.

This is just another reason why you shouldn’t solely depend on Google Analytics as your analytics provider, but rather be an additional source.

I use a number of different analytics solutions to monitor my traffic. Some built-in with my hosting, such as AWstats or Webalizer, maybe Getclicky, but at least one other analytics solution.
