Yahoo! Acquires IndexTools

The news hit the streets this morning. Yahoo! has acquired IndexTools. Why? Simple.

Competition.

Google acquired Urchin over three years ago and Yahoo! has had no direct competing product since that acquisition.

So what will Yahoo! offer through this analytics acquisition? Free* analytics.

This will help Yahoo! secure more of a position within the industry.
