Google appears to be as smart as we already think, if not smarter.
Let’s take a look at this specific search query, “adium windows” — Adium is an instant messenger client for OS X.
In this screen shot above, we can clearly see that Google understands the concept of what you are searching for. It already knows that the client, Adium, does not yet exist for the Windows platform. But Google does know that a comparable client does exist, named Trillian.
Google’s algorhythm has gotten smarter and smarter over time. This search query proves that Google can truly understand what a user may be searching for.
Of course, this is not to say that it understands every single query ever imagined, but it is getting closer and closer to understanding exactly what you are looking for — and providing the result which will hopefully be correct for you.
