As reported earlier, Google indeed lost the wireless spectrum auction. They lost, but the consumer won. Here is what Google has to say about [losing] the auction.
“Nonetheless, partly as a result of our bidding, consumers soon should have new freedom to get the most out of their mobile phones and other wireless devices.”
It’s true though. Google put down some serious new guidelines and asked for the FCC to follow these guidelines if they wanted Google’s participation. Upon agreeing to those terms, Google placed a bid.
The auction has produced some great revenue for the government. Google has set some higher standards for the use of the frequency that Verizon has acquired licenses for, so after everything is said and done, everyone seems to be happy.
