This morning, the New York Times reported on what Google is thinking about doing. Last week, Google lost the FCC wireless auction to Verizon and AT&T, but Google actually still “scored a victory” because they achieved what they were hoping to, opening up the airwaves for “any legal devices.”

Google is planning and hoping that the FCC will make those old TV airwaves a license-free zone. Doing so would allow for any company to use them and Google is looking at using them for Internet access.

“Portable technology is outselling personal computers, giving the company new spots to place online advertising.” Based on this being true, it is no wonder that Google has been seeking the mobile market so strongly.

We have seen Google take quite a few steps already to move into the mobile market, so there’s no denying that they want a piece of the action. AdWords is still their biggest money-maker, so the more eyes they can get to view those ads, the more money they can make.

Let’s take a look if these moves really fit into the mission statement for Google though, “Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

I feel that Google’s actions do fit in with their mission statement.

Google is trying to create a network that will make information universally accessible for nearly everyone. Sure, they are trying to make a buck off of it, but they are still trying to make it universally accessible.
