I was invited to a Live.com Webmaster Dinner last night. We had a great time and I’m really glad I went (not just for the food, but the people were great.)
As a small recap of the night, we talked about a broad range of things. From how big is Live.com’s index vs. Google’s index, how easy is to find news on Live vs. Google, and plenty more.
Ani, who was hosting the event for Microsoft, touched on a few things about what’s going on with webmaster.live.com in the near future. The highlight of what she touched on is that the team will be releasing new features Spring 2008.
They know there are improvements that need to happen, they know they are lacking some features, but they know — and “that’s half the battle,” Duane Forrester stated (who also works for Microsoft).
We had an extremely good time. Great people, great food, great conversation.
Duane and I talked a lot about duplicate content and it was a running joke for the night; which made for some great laughs.
Danny Sullivan was sitting at the opposite end of my table so we didn’t get to talk much, but we did finally get an official introduction to each other.
Sadly, I didn’t get to talk to anyone at the other table, but it looked like they were having a good time as well.
All said and done, it was a good networking event to meet some people and put names to faces. I’m eager to see what Microsoft has up their sleeve for Search throughout the rest of 2008.
