In a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, Sheryl Sandberg has left Google to join Facebook. “…Google’s 38-year-old Vice President for Global Online Sales and Operations, set up and manages the unit that handles sales for about 99% of Google’s advertisers and helped spearhead other initiatives such as its Google.org philanthropic arm.” Alright, that is fairly impressive to have on your résumé.

Ms. Sandberg is going to joining forces with 23-year-old CEO Mark Zuckerberg as the new COO of Facebook. Ms. Sandberg’s six years of experience at Google will provide Mark and the Facebook management team with invaluable insight and knowledge.

The fit together with Sandberg and Zuckerberg is a match made in heaven. Sandberg graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Business School.

In an interview with Time Magazine last year, Zuckerberg stated that he had intended only to launch Facebook for Harvard alone. Only later expanding it to other schools, finally High Schools, then companies around the world — now it is available to everyone.

The announcement for Sandberg to join the Facebook management team is only something we can call natural selection.

Facebook still has a bright future, in my opinion, despite what others are saying about the slowed growth. The platform is just beginning to part the sea of Open Source technologies. Facebook started this movement by opening up the Facebook Platform to utilize Facebook Apps.

Sandberg joined the Facebook because she believes in the vision that Zuckerberg has for the company of Facebook.
