Late last week, the Google Data API team released an open source email migration tool which will allow users to more easily migrate old email to Google Apps. Basically, if you are currently using email servers such as Exchange, Zimbra, or Qmail.

As we have previously seen, Google has already taken a number of steps to encourage individuals and companies to migrate their systems over to Google Apps. It first started out with custom domains becoming available, then white-label options, shortly after the custom domains becoming available we then saw more features for custom domains.
But let’s take a look at what Google has been doing for the corporate side of things. Google launched Google Apps Premiere, quickly following with some Google Apps downtime — which really didn’t help their case — but then just six months later acquiring Postini to boost the corporate security that companies are looking for.
So where do we stand at this point in time? Soon to have corporate security integrated into Google Apps, white-label options for Google Apps, custom domains for both companies and individuals, and lastly, seamless integration into domain registrars and web hosting services.
Stay tuned, I will soon be reviewing Google Apps for all the features and what steps need to be taken to really take hold of what Google Apps has to offer you.
