Blu-ray, Green-ray, HD-DVD, LowDef-DVD…WHO CARES?!

There has been a ton of coverage lately about Blu-ray and HD-DVD (high definition DVD). A lot of people are saying that Blu-ray won the battle, but then there are other people saying that Blu-ray only won the battle, but lost the war.

TechCrunch suggests that because of last week’s CES, HD-DVD will be “joining the dead pool.” But then we need to look at Apple’s next move to not include Blu-ray drives in the 2008 line-up of their Mac Pros.

Another hit to HD-DVD is Warner Brothers making the switch to support Blu-ray.

But of course, we have a middle-man company that wants to play favorites for both sites. “Let’s make a Blu-ray AND HD-DVD player!”

I’m getting really sick of this kind of DVD/Blu-ray battle. Seriously, just pick one format, like hey, pick CDs or Cassettes or Atracks…or heck, I don’t care, JUST PICK ONE!

There’s absolutely no reason there should be a battle over two because no one in their right mind should have created a second format outside of HD-DVD or Blu-ray. Create one format and make it the standard.
