As part of Google’s New Year’s resolutions, the development team wants more publishers to start using Google APIs.
In fact, the Google Data team has created a special YouTube channel just for Google Developers. This channel will be dedicated to developers and how to utilize Google code.
So why does Google want you to start using more of their APIs? [here comes my opinion] To gain access to more information, your information. It seeks like at least once a month we look back at Google’s mission statement.
“Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
So, every action that Google takes, we need to keep that statement in mind and see if those actions stay in line with the mission statement. “Push more APIs out and get more people to use the APIs.” Does that stay in line with the mission statement? I certainly think it does.
While Google may be out to get your information, it’s still information, and it’s still in line with their mission of organizing the world’s information. They do need to keep security at the core of their company as with the amount of information they have, it could be dangerous if it’s ever leaked out. But all said and done, Google is still in line with their mission statement.
Here’s a brief video clip demo of what we can expect from their YouTube Google Developer channel.
