Credit Card Aliases for Google Checkout … to come?

I have been using Google Checkout more and more recently — with good reason — as it’s made my life easier to not have to create logins every time I want to buy something.

With the big move from Los Angeles to New York City, I’m still buying quite a bit of stuff. Furniture, office equipment, bedroom furniture, all that kind of fun stuff.

But on the side, I have been trying out the Auctions area of Overstock.com. I recently purchased Ocean’s Twelve through Overstock.com Auctions using Google Checkout. But now I’m running into a small issue.

With the recent creation of my company, Fireside Media LLC, I now have a corporate American Express Business card as well as my normal American Express personal card. One thing that I see in a lot — if not all — other online payment processors, is a way to set an alias for a credit card or bank account.

You can change bank account settings with aliases within the AdSense interface, but you cannot do it through the Google Checkout interface. Having credit cards that only different in 1 digit for the last four digits, this becomes annoying and more work than is needed.

If I could label it as “biz - AMEX” and “personal - AMEX”, that would make life so much easier.

Psst, and if you haven’t noticed yet, I really like American Express — they have outstanding customer service.

So a small request to the Google Checkout team, com’n folks, just get the aliases working so it makes our lives a little easier.
