WordPress 2.1.2 Release — Upgrade Immediately

Posted by jonathan at 11:05am EST on 03/03/2007

Long story short: If you downloaded WordPress 2.1.1 within the past 3-4 days, your files may include a security exploit that was added by a cracker, and you should upgrade all of your files to 2.1.2 immediately.

With that in mind, I upgraded to 2.1.2 just now. As we know, WordPress — like any other open source application — is bound to have security issues like this happen from time to time. Does this mean that WordPress isn’t amazing? No, it just means that it’s created by humans.

So head on over and upgrade to 2.1.2 today!

Upgraded. After so many upgrades since I started using WP, I’m starting to see the need for some kind of auto-updater..or something similar.

It seems to be up to date as of Jan. 2007…but I haven’t used it myself. For actions like an upgrade, I prefer to do things manually so I know exactly what is going on.
