Privately Labeled AdWords

A privately labeled AdWords platform to run as your own. An interesting thought that Philip brought up in his latest article about Google AdWords’ competition in Norway.

The last option of private labeling Google Adwords is the most interesting one. This option has probably not even been considered, since it may not be possible. I think it would be interesting to explore. The advantage to Sesam is that they would get a user friendly and scalable ad solution that would be easy to fill up with advertisers(because advertisers already know how to use it). The advantage to Google would be that their platform would become the standard for internet advertising(it probably will anyway..) and at the same time assisting a smaller player generate more revenues. If Google’s goal is to make Adwords the standard platform for all internet advertising, it would be a great move.

If company X wanted to begin serving their own ads using a platform similar to AdWords, such as Yahoo! Search Marketing or Microsoft AdCenter, their platform would be sub par to Google’s AdWords platform. Standardization? Google is doing a great job already of branding the Internet marketing world with the standard of AdWords.

Google has done such an amazing job at creating AdWords to how easy it is to use, how flexible it is, and how user friendly it is. Of course there will always be more features we want, more controls, etc., but right now, AdWords is by far superior to AdCenter and Overture (Yahoo! Search Marketing).

But what if Google could privately label AdWords to market it to other companies? It may not even be possible to do right now or Google may be stowing away the capability and waiting until the timing is right to release it.

Having a privately labeled AdWords platform would push companies and advertisers to use the standard (AdWords) and that would put Google leaps and bounds ahead of any competition that even challenged Google’s position in Internet Marketing.
