HOWTO: Backup Gmail with Thunderbird

Lifehacker takes the gold for this one on how to backup your Gmail account with Thunderbird.
I probably should be doing this too, but I actually use Gmail as my backup system for my other e-mail addresses mostly. I do have about 6 e-mail addresses I use in Thunderbird, but Gmail isn’t one of them.
