Yahoo! seems to be a little behind on the times for search and advertising, but wait, they’re trying to get ahead in the game with their new advertising tools! Will that make them stronger? Maybe…but maybe not.

Google had some time to deal with their Googlebomb attacks of keyword stuffing and faking the search results. Yahoo! still seems to be having the problem and they haven’t fixed it. The ‘miserable failure’ search on Google no longer shows results of George W. Bush, but rather the real results which should have been shown from the start.
Going back to Yahoo!’s latest toolset release for advertising.
Yahoo’s search-engine makeover has been delayed several times but is considered so significant for the company’s future that executives code-named it Panama, after the canal. In the past few years, Google has continued to dominate the market for Internet ads, in part because its technology served up more relevant, and therefore more lucrative, ads.
I’ve been to Panama and seen how the Panama canal works first-hand. It’s an amazing process. Yahoo! is naming their next huge release with Panama for that very reason. But one thing I really think Yahoo! is failing to realize is that Google hasn’t obtained this huge advantage over night.
Google has been in the lead for quite some time now and they have a very large sustainable lead. Yahoo! is going to try to play ‘catch-up’ over night and I don’t have a strong feeling about their success with it. Google did it the right way the first time.
