As I’m looking at some of the traffic data for this site, ginside.com, I saw some keyword searches for “google tv beta” already and I thought to myself, “that post has only been active for 10 hours…how is it getting so much traffic already?” Then it dawned on me.
So I went to look at my recent visitors and see where they were coming from. I had a large group of hits from blogsearch.google.com and it all became so clear. After realizing where the traffic was coming from, I did one last check. I looked to see where this blog was pinging.
Here are the current ping sites that I use:
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
http://rpc.icerocket.com:10080
http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
After remembering that I had setup this blog to ping Google’s Blogsearch page, it became a lot easier to understand why I had so much traffic coming for such a new keyword.
Moral of the story: make sure you’re pinging the right sites that you want to target and it could dramatically increase your traffic rates. The more you’re telling people about your site, the more likely you are to get visitors to it.
