The Deeper Search Within Your Search

Something I had not noticed for a long time(?) is that there is a little “Search within results” link at the bottom of the page when searching on Google.

Search within your search

So that’s where you can click to search within your search. Next, the actual functionality of it.

Searching with your search results

After doing the search, it’s actually not very helpful at all. What could be an amazing tool is not so much an amazing tool. All the tool does is add your query to the end of your already-existing query.

For example, searching for “student tools” and then click on the “search within results” will produce this: click here for Google query.

So the query comes out to be “student tools students” if I added the “students” string to the query. Yeah, lame, I know. I was hoping for so much more…but alas, it doesn’t really do anything.
