AdSense on Facebook?

As Eric points out on VentureBeat.com, Google is trying to be sneaky and get a piece of the action here.

The AdSense team has been undercover and talking to Facebook application developers. Working with them to get AdSense to display within their applications.

AdSense on Facebook? Maybe.

So what does this mean for Google? Facebook? AdWords advertisers?

Google

Google is hoping that this will expand their userbase for AdSense and help continue to grow their revenue.

Facebook

Facebook opened up the world of applications and quickly realized that application developers will want to monetize their applications. They have done so, but I don’t think they had expected for AdSense to be launched on there. Facebook now has a decision to make about whether to allow the use of AdSense or not.

AdWords Advertisers

If/when I start using AdWords again, I will simply block .facebook.com from displaying my ads. Why? Because I use CPM marketing most of the time and with the amount of impressions that Facebook receives every month, it would kill my budget. Specifically, they on average receive 65 billion pageviews per month right now. [Nov 2007]
