Google is ramping up to compete with social networks, primarily targeting Facebook. But when you really look at it, Google is targeting the entire Internet community.

“It is so hard to sneak up on the top dogs these days. A decade ago, the approach to thwart an upstart was to bundle, give product away for free and use your girth to squash a smaller rival. Think Microsoft meets Netscape. Today, it’s a different game. Open protocols rule.” It’s very true though. The “open” world is where the Internet is going.

“Will OpenSocial herald an era of open APIs in enterprise applications? Initially no, but we’ll see.” Google is opening up a whole host of new APIs to help power these social networks.

The world is becoming more social and more “tag” based everyday. Ease of use, simplicity, and creativity are on the verge of being what we call reality.

Socialization is the next step for the world wide web.
