Google already has plans to launch their own mobile phone [service] in the near future so this is exactly what they needed to build on top of that. “We’ve entered into an agreement to have Google acquire our Zingku service.” Straight from the Zingku.com homepage, we can see that Google will be extending their mobile services even more.
Zingku’s mission is to enable individuals and businesses to “mobilize their passion” by leveraging their personal network.
We started in 2005 when we noticed that teenage/twenty something’s and their friends were engaging in rich media conversations drawing upon the full reach of mobile text messaging, the immediacy and speed of instant messaging, and thoroughness of web browser interface. A single conversation would take place amidst all these communication channels… often leading to plans for the evening, a purchase down the road, or simply a series of chuckles that passed time.
A little bit about Zingku and what they do. So really what Google is trying to do now is target a new niche demographic that they haven’t been able to target yet. With Facebook picking up more and more traction everyday, Google needed to find a way to capture that market which has yet to be seriously tapped.
We have also seen that Google launched AdSense Mobile recently which is just another indication that Google is definitely moving into the mobile market.
