Microsoft has been looking around for somewhere new to spend their money. After spending USD$6 billion with the acquisition of aQuantive, they are now looking at taking a stake in Facebook.
The NY Post reports that Microsoft is looking to invest and take 5% ownership of Facebook. We know that Facebook doesn’t want to be acquired, but how will they feel about this part-ownership?
Microsoft has become quite gutsy with all these quick and aggressive acquisitions and investments. First spreading the rumors of completely buying out Yahoo! for USD$55 billion, now going after Facebook — but only for a portion.
So what is Microsoft to do next? Buy Google? Not likely. Microsoft is drowning and they realize that. Yahoo! is drowning in the same pool.
