This past March, Google attempted to develop a new server farm in India, but for various reasons had to close the deal down and it ended up not happening. Since that time, they went on to build a server farm in Taiwan instead. Google is once again attempting to build a server farm in India.
It will store e-mails, blogs, photos, documents and chat records, and make it available to users when they demand it. Google’s proposal to set up a server farm in India comes on the back of increasing number of internet users in the country.
A local server will allow users to access the internet faster and also save on access costs from international locations when volumes increase. (via)
