Nasa and Google have teamed up together in an effort to share resources in data research and for Nasa to utilize Google Earth.
This will be a huge partnership more so for Nasa, I think, than Google because Google has the largest server farm in the world. This kind of computing power will be a huge asset to Nasa. Nasa needs that kind of computing power to increase the speed of research and development.
Of course Google wouldn’t do the partnership unless it benefited Google as well. It’s not 100% clear how Google will benefit from it yet, but I have a hunch that Google will take advantage of the access to space photos and videos as an exclusive resource for their recently purchased YouTube.com.
