Lisensa Copyright Protection Tools

A problem that I’ve had personally for this blog is splogging — aka spam blogging. Darren wrote up a great article about this new company which is where I first heard about it.

The basics behind Lisensa is that is works to govern the copyrighted material and licensing for anything a blogger may right. This is great and I think I might actually start using this in the future, but, I wonder, will this integrate well into Feedburner at all? I still need my tracking for my feed and all that fun stuff because it helps me monetize my traffic better and get an idea of who’s actually reading this thing.

It’s still young so hopefully they will come out with something soon for it to integrated into FB.

There is nothing exclusive about using Lisensa or FeedBurner that would preclude using both. We actually encourage authors to license their work through as many services as possible.

What I’m wondering though, will Lisensa just be a legal end of things or will it actually start providing the feeds like Feedburner does?

At this time, feeds are provided either directly from the author’s site or through a service they select, like Feedburner. We have no plans to become a middle man when direct licensing occurs, we simply handle the transaction and our license receipt for purchasers includes the original feed address that the author entered. I can say that among the 100+ registered feeds so far, we have quite a few being provided by Feedburner.

It’s a good concept that I like. I’ll consider signing up and using it when I relaunch this site with some updates. Thanks for filling me in.

Awesome, that’s great to hear. I know we’re a bit sparse on functionality, but we have a fantastic development leader coming on board and I think we’ll be able to ramp up both with functionality on the site as well as external components like a more active “badge” that clearly shows Creative Commons terms, Lisensa terms and interacts with search tools and browser plug-ins that look for those bits of data. Oh, and the WordPress integration…the list is long but be patient and well deliver as quick as we can.
