gSprint Partnership

Gmail for mobile devices will be available to Sprint’s data customers at no additional charge, Reston, Virginia-based Sprint said in a statement today. Users can download the e-mail application or access the service through a wireless Web site.

Google and Sprint have teamed up — to my surprise — as mobile partners with the aspect of providing Gmail free of charge. While Gmail alone is already free, Verizon and such competitors require data transfer fees. I know I pay $24.99 per month for data transfer for my PDA and having it for free would be great.

In a beginning they blocked users from downloading anything that isn’t on their homepage. That’s why Google made a deal with sprint to offer gmail mobile. And that`s why I moved to another application Movamail http://movamail.com/. It`s much more versatile and it can connect to any account ther is (hotmail, yahoo, gmail…)

What I find very interesting is that Microsoft and Sprint just teamed up as mobile partners and Google partnered up with 3Mobile instead.

I’m quite surprised that Google and Sprint didn’t partner together because of this previous relationship.
