YouTube.com has struck up deals, just like Google has, to deal with music videos through companies such as Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, and CBS. Google just finished up deals like this which they were hoping would put them up front, but YouTube isn’t far behind. While the rumors are still flying around of Google buying YouTube, it still doesn’t look like it’s going to happen (to me at least.) Music videos are a hot topic, especially on MTV, so what better way to boost your traffic than to have them easily accessbile whenever you want. Both platforms — Google Video and YouTube — have done a great job of providing a stable CDN (Content Delivery Network).
What’s next to figure out is how they will deliver music videos in their own manner and how it will be presented to the public. YouTube doesn’t offer any “pay” service [yet] which leads me to believe that they will be offering them completely free. Google Video may be offering them for free and may be charging for some (such as they do on iTunes.)
