Michael Arrington on Techcrunch got an email recently talking about how Google might be acquiring YouTube for anywhere between $1.2 – $1.5 billion. I am very skeptical at this move and I doubt it will happen. I don’t feel that Google needs to make a move like this to stay in the ball game. Yes, YouTube does have a huge head start already as far as userbase goes in video submissions, but Google — on the larger scale — as the better overall user database. If Google could push a bigger promotion for user submissions, such as with a contest offering cash prizes or something like a trip to Google, it could easily take over the lead and become number one without buying YouTube.
