Last week we asked the court to reconsider its decision and requested that the requirement to post the ruling on our home pages be suspended. The court on Friday 22nd September agreed to reconsider its ruling in November this year, but maintained the requirement that we must post the initial judgment to our home pages for five days or face a fine of 500,000 Euros a day. So what do you think? Should Google be forced to post these rulings on their homepages? Personally, I don’t see why they should be forced to post anything. If they’ve done what they needed to do, that should be the end of it.
Lisa Barone makes a good point though: “If Belgium had sued Microsoft, would anyone have cared?”
I doubt it. People stand up for Google, right or wrong. Google’s infamous motto of “Don’t be evil”, still stands. Google is just a great company that I’m proud to stand up for. Microsoft though, on the other hand, is simply evil. The creation of Windows, Office, and dozens of other applications. While some, yes, are actually pretty good, such as Visio and .NET Studio, I am not impressed with their performance throughout the lifetime of the company. Google has been incredible from the start.
